The Department of Pathology renders a myriad of diagnostic services supporting the healthcare system of the hospital. The clinical section of the department is housed in the hospital block and includes Hematology, Clinical Pathology, Histopathology, Cytopathology and Blood Centre. Our licenced Blood Centre provides blood and its components to the needy patients. The central clinical lab is equipped with the state-of-the art instruments and is managed by well-qualified and trained staff. The academic section of the department located in the new college block houses museum, departmental library and research lab. The Pathology museum has a spectrum of mounted and unmounted specimens which provide a real-life learning experience for the medical students. The department is currently teaching MBBS students in the new competency based medical (CBME) curriculum; the broad goal being to provide the students with a comprehensive knowledge of the mechanisms and causes of disease, in order to enable him/her to achieve complete understanding of the natural history and clinical manifestations of disease. The departmental research lab provides sufficient facilities for the faculty to pursue their research interests. The department organises clinico-pathology meetings, seminars, CMEs, workshops and participates in national and international events to update their knowledge.
