The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, BMCH, aims at providing standard, ethical and quality health care to women. We focus on providing individual health care tailored to every woman’s needs as women pass through various health challenges during different phases of life and they are the backbone of the society


Facilities Available In The Deparment


We are providing regular outpatient Obstetric and Gynaecologic services on all days. We are conducting antenatal, high risk Pregnancy, Postnatal , Gynaecology and Family Planning Clinics all days of the week. We also offer special clinics with counselling sessions for subfertility, adolescents and postmenopausal women twice a week. We are offering cervical cancer screening on all days and colposcopy to indicated cases .

At present we have 2 Units with a total of 25 beds allotted for Obstetrics and 20 beds for Gynaecology. Our team of experienced doctors are performing major and minor obstetric, gynaecological and laparoscopic surgeries regularly. Our obstetric wards (antenatal,postnatal,high risk pregnancy) gynaecology wards, postoperative wards,surgical ICU and NICU are well equipped with necessary infrastructure to provide comprehensive and high quality services. We have state of the art labour wards with facilities to manage normal and high risk pregnancies. Our dedicated team of doctors manage obstetric and gynaecologic emergencies round the clock. We are supported 24 x 7 by a team of anaesthetists ,other specialists,nursing staff and paramedics including round the clock blood bank and lab facilities.


Teaching Services:


Our faculty is well experienced in teaching the Undergraduate Medical students.Our department is well equipped with modern teaching aids. Our department aims at imparting not only clinical knowledge and skills but also inculcating ethics,etiquette and empathy in their approach to patients and colleagues. We aim at promoting research activities among faculty and the students.


Events Conducted:


  • October 2020 : Breast cancer awareness programme was done as a video presentation for general public and telecasted on social media.
  • Our department participated in the general camp organised by BMCH on 3.1.2021.
  • INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY,2021 observed in OBG Department : Cancer awareness programme and Cancer cervix screening camp was conducted on 9 ,10,11 March2021. 64 women attended the camp.
